Orthopractic Foot Joint Mobilisation ... What is it?

OFJM is a gentle system of manual bodywork for correcting feet. It combines the best of Gordon Wilson’s highly-respected 35 years of clinical practice and the hands-on wisdom of clinical techniques proven to work in the real world. Orthos is Greek for straight, right, correct.
An orthopractor is a "body corrector".

If you are unable to hold the results of the good work you are been doing on your body, or have unexplained feet or heel pain, then consider the importance of the feet. You should experience OFJM!

Your feet are foundational to properly maintain the everyday inter-play between the skeletal and muscular system. They help keep your body's best centre of gravity and optimum alignment.

The foot facts.
Your foot is designed to move in over 150 different positions. Three times your body weight passes though your foot with every step. When you run, the impact on your heel is over 2,000 pounds per square inch - that's a bone-pounding 1,000 kilos for every strike of your heels!

It's no wonder that even minor disturbances in the alignment of the feet can cause lower back pain and upset the proper balance of the rest of the body.

OFJM treats the cause of many back problems.
All kinds of corrections to humanity's longsuffering feet misalignments have been practised over the centuries. The practitioners have been many – surgeons, doctors, chiropractors, osteopaths, podiatrists with the relatively recent use of high-tech orthotic inserts, massage therapists and reflexologists.

If you still suffer feet & lower back pain, then the good news is that OFJM treats the basic causes in the soft tissues and joints. This wholistic and safe approach, is now available from qualified OFJM practitioners in Australia.

OFJM combines the best of Gordon Wilson's highly respected 35 years of clinical practice and the hands-on wisdom of clinical body techniques proven to work in the real world.

An earlier footjoint sequence was taught by Dr Harvey Lampel, a Doctor of Reflexology, in the USA in the 1990's. He trained practitioners in treating feet problems with a gentle mobilizing approach.

Lampel coined the term "micro-misalignment" to describe the miniscule shifts that initially cause feet discomfort and if left to worsen, cause consequent structural problems. This micro-misalignment doesn't register in diagnoses from conventional X-rays, where it is not possible to compare what your feet are now doing, compared to what they were doing or should be doing. Such micro changes in the feet and joints are often due to daily use, work or sports stress and trauma, rather than more obvious events such as sprains & breaks.

OFJM may also assist with the pain of arthritis, or the deformities from spurs and bunions, by equalizing the position of the body and subsequently evening out the pressure on the foot joints. Many of the more well-known foot problems - e.g. flat feet – and other chronic conditions will get relief from pain, and may even obtain correction, through OFJM combined with good clinical techniques.

Why not treat the cause of foot pain before you consider surgery?
OFJM works on the soft tissue structure and placement of joints. It can be used as a stand-alone approach, or as a complementary support for more conventional western podiatry treatments, such as orthotic inserts. In Australia, OFJM is practiced by graduates of the Australian College of Orthopractics.

"I first discovered the amazing benefit of foot joint mobilization when one of my clients at 65 years of age, was able to have her completely flat feet corrected into normal arches. Her initial recovery from the condition was spectacular! It has only improved since then, and she is delighted!"
